How do you turn an early 70s hotel situated in frontline of the Athenian Riviera into a cutting-edge vertical mega mansion? This ambitious and intriguing design brief was the spark that inspired this unique renovation project, the “Waterfront”.

The main challenge, was to introduce cutting edge design elements around the dense structural grid of the existing structure. The exterior design language is formed by prismatic architectural elements that provide privacy from the adjacent buildings and act as a dynamic frame that leads the user’s gaze towards the sea.

On the interior, the need for fluid, open-plan spaces led to a design approach where the existing structure was camouflaged by integrated design solutions. Decorative elements are kept at a minimum, while the interior is expressed through the intricate angled geometries that define its every surface, simultaneously functioning as couch, booth, bed or office.

The programmatic distribution of spaces follow a vertical stacking approach. On the ground floor, the bespoke entrance on the main street, leads to a garage towards the seafront.  Private office, conference room, gym and dining facilities are spread through the first floor, while guest suites with en-suite hot tubs are located on the second floor. The main kitchen and dining facilities along with the main living room are on the third level.

The fourth floor accommodates the master bedroom, a private living room and master bathroom with its own jacuzzi plunge pool. On the top of the building, the roof garden, lounge area and pool, form a unique viewing platform towards the sea.

The materials used throughout the building were carefully selected to showcase the imposed geometry. White marble and natural wood, gracefully highlight the design elements and reflect the ambitious character of the project.
