Having acquired the permit and beginning construction in Autumn 2022, Socrates’ Villa is a unique Cycladic villa design, which follows a mutual ambition with our clients to redefine and reinvent the Cycladic aesthetics.

At the same time, It was the client's wish to pursue a hybrid solution between "Cave" and overground Cycladic typology, and in this way exploit and combine the benefits of both building types.

This objective has evolved to be a major architectural challenge in the design process: to identify the axis, curves, surfaces and volumes that combine and harmonise the geometry and function of the two typologies.

In programmatic terms, most public functions of the building have been assigned to the cave typology, while the master bedroom and main guestrooms have been placed on the overground part. The latter is forming a U shape, which is sheltered from the northern winds to the creation of a daily exterior "theatre" that acts as an everyday inclined Cycladic playground.

The modular approach to the layout of the spaces on the plot, ensure that the various functional clusters can be accessed individually, are private from one another and are self-contained in terms of hardscape and amenities.
