The architectural vision behind the design of these private suites, located at Choulakia bay in Mykonos, was shaped by responding to two main objectives: To exploit in the best possible way the double height of the space and to frame the exquisite views while being coherent with local aesthetics and surroundings.
The first was accomplished by moving the bed to a dedicated mezzanine level, which also includes the master-bedroom. This kind of arrangement achieves the vertical compartmentalisation between the suite's private and public functions, emphasising this dual living mode.
The second was approached by going for a composition of architectural frames as windows that expand in the sea-facing wall. This way, we avoid the unsuitable for this location gesture of massive glazing while creating a meaningful visual relationship between the interior and exterior.
The relationship between these two agendas generates the user experience: the signature windows are better experienced from the floating level of the bed, emphasising the airiness of the inhabitation.
