Located in the neighbourhood of Voula in Athens, the residential building in Asklipiou & Solomou St. is a classic case where the architect is required to translate a plot's unique characteristics into an architectural quality.

According to principal architect Dimitri Tsigos: "You cannot approach an acute-angled building with conventional thinking. This angle needs to be highlighted as something special".

Inspired by the Flatiron Building in New York City, the geometric solution was approached by creating a similar curved edge around the acute angle. However, in our case, the structural solution is such that this edge materialises as a free facade with clear glazing.

When it came to the rest of the architectural rhythm of the building, the intention was to balance horizontality and verticality graciously. White colour is also used in order to highlight this balance with serenity and lightness.

The final design emerges through these shapes but also reflects the needs of real estate. Therefore, the final layout of the apartments was defined by the needs and wishes of our clients in order to create a building that would be attractive to their potential buyers. These decisions defined the interior as well as the overall massing and appearance of the building.
